ABOUT THE WATCH

"The St. Louis Schools Watch was founded on the premises that parental and community involvement are needed for good schools to flourish, and that public participation is a cornerstone of democracy. The Watch offers information and analysis that we hope contributes to a public debate over what changes are necessary to improve St. Louis public schools, and what works."

Thanks, Veronica, for playing both the race and the sex card in your interview. Of course, people don't like you because you're a strong, black femaile. Yeah right. People don't like you because you are an unstable, egotistical nut-case. Give us all a break and resign.

Interesting! How interesting that this site notes that Dr. Bourisaw refused to pay Bonner the $125,000 that O'Brien wanted, but yet channel 2 broke the news that he actually is getting that amount. So who is LYING????

I find it so ironic to hear O'Brien say Bonner is doing 3 & 4 jobs that validify his salary; well let me tell you what Special Education Managers are doing:
1. Area Based Management
2. Early Childhood Special Education Management
3. Autism Coordination and Management
4. Itinerant Staff Management - OT, PT, Homebound etc.

So Mrs. O;Vrien and Dr. Bourisaw, can you all pay our managers for the four jobs that they are doing, because you all have afiled to hire persons to fill these positions.

Someone help them out - they should go to Elliott Davis!

Wonder what Mark O'Brien must think of his wife now? "Strong, black woman?" Veronica has abandoned everyone who ever supported her. So what's strong about that? What's black about that? What's real woman about that? Perhaps she's abandoned him too. He certainly never appears with her in public.

If I was her husband I wouldn't appear in the public eye with her either.

It was in the St. Louis Post Dispatch stating that Bonner was making 72,000 plus an extra 4,000 to be the coach.

When they questioned her about it she said that she didn't know where they got 125,000 from.

Bonner has been all over town bragging about it. He's on top of the world, where else can he be a high school coach and make 125,000.

Something I still don't understand is, why would they pay Bonner for doing the same job that the school board already has 5 people being paid to do?

Believe me when I say this:
BONNER DON'T DO SH** BUT COACH!!

When the firing of Irons and Williams took place the parents tried to tell everybody that Veronia was crazy. When the parents were protesting they were told to stop whining and Veronica knows what she's doing. When everybody could have came together as one no one bothered or had the time.

Now everyone realizes that that bi*** is crazy and ain't sh**, something that the protesters have been saying since June.

How many tax payers and parents regret not speaking up and supporting the protesters now?

Every department at SLPS has been downsized to the point of people doing 3 or 4 jobs. When I was there, we were working weekends, late evenings and bringing in family to volunteer their help. If she really thinks that justifies a huge salary, then everyone that's left will be very happy to hear that! Except, of course, those whose health didn't allow them to survive the stress. Nothing she can pay will ever make up for the loss of an amazing educator who was pushed past the limits of human capacity.

I was confused when Ms. O'Brien made the statement..."they are not use to having a strong, black female...this town is in the dark ages..." She may have "hit the nail on the head" with the portion of her comment about St. Louis being in the dark ages. In some respects, even though I love this city, I can't completely disagree with her on that one. However, there is no shortage of 'strong, black females" in this community. I encounter them every day when I walk into my child's school...as educational administrators, teachers, social workers, counselors, paraprofessionals, custodial workers, security officers, and food service personnel. I encounter them at every school function I attend... busy making a living and raising a family, but also making the time to support their child's school activities. I encounter them at church, and in local businesses...many of them running the business and leading the congregation. Perhaps Ms. O’Brien, the ‘they’ you referred to that “are not use to strong, black females” could begin by visiting some of our schools? Those visits might benefit you also!

Come on, Veronica. Don't confuse strong leadership with abuse of power.

Let's hope the students don't watch this on TV and get the impression she's a role model.
